Variety is the spice of life

If variety is the spice of life, as the proverb goes, then our most recent familiarisation (FAM) trip organised by OGL Meetings in Catalonia showed us that we can offer clients just that! We were taken to the beautiful inland area of Olot, set deep in dramatic volcanic landscapes, the lovely coastal town of nearby Lloret de Mar and the cultural gem that is the city of Girona, all within easy reach of each other and locations that could be combined into one corporate event or trip with ease. We’ve handpicked the best of the tour for you and believe that the contrasts in areas and places would really make for an exciting event or corporate trip.

We loved the rural hotel Mas Garganta in Olot, which would provide the perfect escape for smaller groups and/or events related to Slow Movin’, our packages that offer a greater focus on well-being and mindfulness. The area also boasts the two-starred Michelin restaurant, Les Cols. From the outside, the restaurant might look like any other typical Catalan farmhouse, but once inside it becomes clear that this is a very unique place with award winning interior design and architectural features. There is a space designed for larger events in the garden, which blends seamlessly into the surrounding nature and volcanic landscape.

In the wonderful, lively city and cultural hub of nearby Girona there is a fantastic Congress centre where, as a bonus feature, you can be taken on a Game of Thrones tour, since many of the scenes in the series were filmed in the city’s historical centre! The magnificent dining table is from Casa Maso, the former home of a Catalan architect and still exactly the same. Fabulous small dinners can be arranged here.

If the sea calls and your event is a big one, then the coastal town of Lloret del Mar is just down the road and more geared up towards hosting larger conferences and groups. We visited and loved the spectacular Jardines de Santa Clotilde, a great spot for private events and visits. For smaller groups we were very impressed with the charming old monastery, San Pere del Bosc, a hotel with 19 rooms a restaurant and a chapel, that provides a wonderful space for events.

Here at Movin’ Barcelona we are really excited to tell you about our new project, Slow Movin’, launching this autumn. In addition to the complementary activities we already offer for our existing and successful event packages, we will now be offering a range of holistic, well-being and self-improvement workshops and classes. These activities are designed to improve the focus, well-being and overall performance of employers and employees at work.

In our fast paced digital world companies are forced more than ever to keep ahead of the game if they are to keep up with competitors. In such a competitive arena it is easy to forget about core values in the work place and the health and happiness of the individuals that work there. Our summer success story with Wow Events


This May we were proud to host a wonderful four-day event for Assa Abloy EMEA in the historic town of Sitges, just 35 minutes along the coast from Barcelona, in collaboration with Wow Events. Our 250 clients stayed at the stunning Dolce Sitges Hotel and long summer evenings and exquisite meals were enjoyed at the Pic Nic and La Taberna del Puerto restaurants.

Journeys around the magical Costa del Sol

We’ve been Movin’ in and around Malaga and Marbella in Spain’s stunning Costa del Sol, searching out new and fabulous locations for unforgettable corporate events and bespoke travel itineraries and we think you will love it!

We were very excited to take a tour of several wineries in the La Ronda region. We saw the fabulous organic winery Bodega Joaquín Fernández and the Bodega La Melonera En Ronda. We were blown away by the stunning bodega Descalzos Viejos, a beautiful 16th century monastery that has been entirely refurbished and where the winery is located and music festivals held. A visit into rural Andalucia to sample wines at these magical places would be a fantastic day trip.

The following destinations were equally rewarding. We visited three fabulous haciendas, La Biznaga (www.haciendalabiznaga)  el Alamo (, and Nadales all located on the outskirts of Malaga and wonderful locations for corporate or private events.

A couple of special places for events and venue locations stood out in the city of Malaga. We loved the idea of using the amazing Picasso museum ( and the Castilla de Santa Catarina ( another jewel, with original 17th century walls surrounding the refurbished building. It also has an eight-room hotel, perfect for smaller corporate groups.

The trip was rounded off with a visit to the 5-star Grand Hotel Miramar (, a beautiful hotel and venue that is steeped in history. Built in 1926 by King Alfonso XIII it was used during the civil war as a hospital and then as Malaga’s Palace of Justice. It reopened its doors as a hotel in 2016 and today is one of Malaga’s finest destinations.

Last but not least, is the classic Bodega el Pimpi @elpimpimalaga in Malaga, with its beautiful dining areas, and fantastic tapas. The walls are covered with old Andalusian posters and the rooms bear the names of famous people who have visited over the years.

If you prefer to be out of the city then we can arrange an event at one of these beautiful coastal or rural destinations. If not, the cities of Marbella and Malaga offer very attractive options for small to large corporate events. The people from southern Spain are very welcoming, the places we visited of a very high standard and the sun never stops shining. Tempted?

Barcelona Experience

Movin’ Barcelona is thrilled to have  provided a memorable Barcelona Experience for a Swedish industrial paint company and its clients, following a sales competition. The tailor-made trip included lodgings at the beautiful Catalonia Magdalanes hotel in the city’s Medieval quarter, a guided Barcelona tour on a vintage bus with a visit  to the Sagrada Familia, a day with Cava producer Gramona, and a plethora of gastronomic delights at some of the city's most infamous restaurants, including the spectacular El Gallito beach restaurant.  An unforgettable experience was had by all!

Movin' Barcelona had, together with Rese Experten, the opportunity to organise the event for the Swedish company Grant Thornton during their visit to Barcelona 10th-13th Sept 2015. The program consisted of a nice mix of leisure and work, such as conference at the hotel H10 Art Gallery and team building activity “Master Chef” at Valkiria Hub Space.

A magical event by the sea and in the vineyards of Sitges and Penedès

September is an ideal time of year to participate in the grape harvest at ten prestigious wineries in the spectacular Penedès wine region.

We arranged for a leading Nordic service company, comprising 500+ employees from three continents, to hold a company-wide conference and anniversary celebration – with a taste of the harvest and a touch of the sea.

The region has two obvious strengths; Sitges, a beautiful town on the Mediterranean, and Penedès, a wine region laden with history and beautifully situated among the coastal hills. Our efforts sought to ensure the entire group of more than 500 employees would have an opportunity to embrace both to the fullest.

Arrangements included accommodations in Sitges and conferences in various formats at Finca Mas Solers as well as at facilities and restaurants along the coast and in the centre of Sitges. The programme also included small-group travel, tours, tastings and participation in the grape harvest (and even grape stomping for the adventurous) for all the employees at ten highly-regarded wineries in the wine country of Penedès – creating a fantastic afternoon rich with team building and education about the region.

Evenings were spent in a variety of settings. One night was spent in Port d’Aiguadolç, a lively port a short walk from the centre of Sitges, featuring a promenade lined with restaurants – which offered an open, welcoming venue for a casual tapas evening “under the stars”. Another evening was dedicated to celebrating the company’s anniversary and was held at the Codorniu Winery and Estate, the world's oldest producer of cava, and included a “Harvest Festival” gala dinner in their cavernous wine cellar – which was an unforgettable venue and the perfect setting for an historical celebration.


Such a large event over 4 days cannot operate professionally without a local partner and the choice fell on Movin' Barcelona with Helena Andersson as the main responsible project manager. We are extremely happy that we had the opportunity and privilege to work with Helena who did an outstanding job! Helena managed all contacts with hotels, wineries, restaurants, event venues, bus companies as well as technique supplier and catering. She was the perfect partner all through planning and execution of the event.
